Hilltop Students and Staff are:  Respectful ~ Responsible ~ Caring and Safe

Hilltop Elementary School is one of four elementary schools in the Chichester School District.  We are located outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Our school houses 450 students for Kindergarten through Grade Four.

Our staff is dedicated to the success of each and every child in our school. Hilltop Elementary is student-centered.  Our teachers and support staff provide a nurturing and caring environment for our students.

Students who attend Hilltop receive many educational opportunities.  We have many initiatives that are being implemented in our school:

• Our Kindergarten is a rigorous full day program
• 100 Book Challenge provides our students with trade books to read during our literacy centers and Language Arts blocks.
• Our Kindergarten through 2nd grade curriculum incorporates Kidwriting to improve their writing skills and 3^rd and 4^th grade incorporate Writer’s Workshop.   
• KidBiz and Study Island, which are web-based computer programs, bring currents events and differentiated instruction to our 3rd and 4th grade classrooms.  They support our reading and math curriculums and are accessible from any computer and the lessons are at the student’s level. 
• Every classroom has a Smartboard and 2 student computer stations.  We also have 2 wireless laptop carts and a computer lab which allows us to integrate technology into our curriculum.
• We also integrate Senteos into our curriculum as well as digital technology.
• Our Language Arts Program includes Shared and Guided Reading to provide “best practice” reading instruction. 
• We use a math program entitled EnVisions, which integrates technology and hands on learning opportunities for students.
• Words Their Way provides a differentiated spelling program uniquely leveled to your student’s needs and abilities. 
• We have many resources available at Destiny , our library online catalog.  
• Our school has implemented a school wide Positive Behavior Support Program.  We have a mascot named Earnie the Eagle.  We “Catch our Students Being Good” throughout the day and they are rewarded and recognized by trained staff members.  Including our custodian, café workers, bus drivers, teachers and Instructional Aides. 

The Hilltop educational program is supported by a variety of resource services and personnel.  We have three reading specialists, two learning support teachers, an instructional support teacher, and a guidance counselor on staff.  Speech and language support and occupational therapy are provided through the Delaware County Intermediate Unit.  We also receive support for our ELL students with a fulltime ELL teacher.  We have paraprofessionals to support our teachers and students in our classrooms.

Certified Art, Music, and Physical Education teachers present a fully articulated program to our students. .  All our students receive quality instruction at these levels as well as library instruction that is scheduled in trimesters.  To enhance our music program, 2nd grade students learn to play the recorder and 4th graders have the opportunity to join chorus and hand bells. 

Concerts, an Art Show, Academic Ceremonies, Book Fairs, Fun Day, and many other annual activities complete the well-rounded education of Hilltop students.  Our H&S is a very involved and supportive organization.  They organize many events throughout the school year such as BINGO Night, Movie Night, Family Fun Festival, Food Drives, Mitten Collections and yearbook creation.
